The Service - Bi-Borough Children’s Department: Operations and Programmes Directorate

Are you keen to grow and develop the capacity and capability of the children’s services workforce in RBKC and WCC to enable them to provide outstanding services to children and families?

Westminster City Council and Kensington & Chelsea Council have entered in to new arrangements to share Children’s, Adults and Public Health services. As part of this new ‘Bi-Borough’ arrangement, we have the highest ambitions to deliver the very best for our children and young people. The newly formed Operations and Programmes Service, sitting within Children’s Services, works to help ensure that we excel in our work with children and their families.

Challenging the status quo and driving transformation will be at the heart of our remit. We will use performance information, business intelligence, customer insight and horizon scanning to inform the delivery of innovative service-led improvement across Children’s Services. Evidenced cases for change will then be implemented through high quality programme and project management practice. The Operations and Programmes Service will also support the smooth running of the Children’s Services “engine” - through business planning, managing and improving partnerships, coordinating customer insight, developing the workforce and maintaining effective relationships between Children’s Services and the two councils’ corporate centres.

The Role – Practice Development Manager – Children’s Services

This is a great opportunity for you to take a significant role in supporting two of the most diverse and densely populated boroughs in London, helping us in our work to provide every child and young person the opportunity to realise their potential.

We are looking to recruit a workforce development professional with experience and knowledge of children’s social care to develop our practice development programme. We have an established systemic practice model which is embedded throughout all areas of children’s social care. You will be committed to relationship based social work, with a track record of supporting the learning and development of practitioners to improve the lives of children.

In this role you will strategically manage the children’s services workforce development function ensuring links to the department vision and business plan.

We are open to considering flexible working, job-share arrangements and secondments for this role.
