Head of Estates Environmental Services
This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents. This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.
A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.
In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. This is your chance to take the lead on Estates and Environmental Services for a diverse and interesting borough. There’s real challenge and variety here, and your work will help improve resident’s lives throughout Kensington and Chelsea as we aim to become one of the best landlords in the country.
As a senior figure in our department, you’ll be responsible for developing high performing, highly motivated and customer-focused teams, who in turn will make sure our estates are safe and clean. On a more strategic level, you’ll deliver our environmental improvement programme, working with teams inside and outside of the council to make the programme a success while securing value for money across our external contracts.
You’ll also make sure we’re compliant with all relevant legislation and internal processes, including data governance, regulatory standards and health and safety provisions.
We’re looking for experienced leaders with a proven track record in delivering service improvements for residents in a social housing/estates services context. You’ll be highly motivated and able to inspire others towards high performance and continuous improvement. You’ll also bring in-depth specialist knowledge to the role and be able to advise people of all levels on estates management and environmental services.
You should have a degree level qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject, along with experience in procurement, contracts and managing teams at a senior level. A thorough knowledge of RIDDOR and COSHH provisions as well as Health & Safety at Work legislation is also useful.
